The Community Broadband Networks (CBN) Initiative researches, documents, and disseminates what communities across the U.S. are doing to improve access to high-quality broadband. In doing so, we work with a diverse group of allies, partners, and local communities on strategies to improve local Internet access and choice.
What Does Digital Local Self-Reliance Look Like?
Having tracked and documented broadband developments for nearly 20 years, the CBN team has amassed the nation’s largest storehouse of information on community-driven efforts to solve local connectivity challenges. Free access to over 4,000 stories, nearly 600 podcasts, dozens of reports, policy briefs, case studies, and instructional videos and other resources can be found at the CBN website communitynets.org.

We offer case studies, fact sheets, and video to help leaders make decisions about community owned networks. We strive to offer resources for informed decisions, because we know each community is unique.
