Nissan Leaf Owners Seek Self-Reliance

How will electric vehicle use change the grid?  If early adopters have their way, less than expected.  Nearly half of Nissan LEAF buyers (in this online forum) intend to power their car with a home solar PV system

Anecdotal, to be sure, but a promising sign.

Germany’s think tanks are planning to have all electric vehicles be charged with renewable power (via the grid) and also allow the grid to pull power out of a vehicles battery when there is peak demand from the market. The smart grid would track this and then recharge the “borrowed” power to each vehicle. Imagine 1,000,000 million vehicles attached to the grid when the grid has a power requirement…power distributed around the country (or a state), decentralized, and less brown out scenarios.
